Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center Participates in "Lights for a Cure" Campaign
Monday, October 12, 2009
Once again, Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center is joining dozens of businesses and organizations in the Philadelphia region for CBS-3's annual "Lights for a Cure" campaign. Every October, participants shine pink lights on their buildings to bring awareness to National Breast Cancer Month. Lourdes has been a participant in the program since its inception more than five years ago. During National Breast Cancer Month, the Lourdes Health System offers these important reminders:
- Women in their 20s and 30s should have a clinical breast exam (CBE) as part of a periodic (regular) health exam by a health professional, at least every 3 years. After age 40, women should have a breast exam by a health professional every year.
- Women age 40 and older should have a screening mammogram every year and should continue to do so for as long as they are in good health.
