Joanne Gianndrea, vice president of operations at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, will become Honorary Commander of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on Monday, May 24.

The Honorary Commanders program facilitates communication between the surrounding communities and military personnel by showcasing joint base capabilities, future leaders and the caliber of the men and women serving at the Burlington County base.

According to base commander Col. Gina M. Grosso, Gianndrea was selected for "a record of service to your community and a tradition of excellence in your profession."

Gianndrea, who oversees Lourdes Health System's military affairs, will be teamed with a commander for two years and be able to access the base. She will be invited to official functions and have an opportunity to participate in military operations usually reserved for those in uniform. She also will be able to invite service members to Lourdes for events.
