Emergency Department Medical Staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center
The emergency physicians practicing at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center have over 100 years of combined Emergency Medicine experience. All maintain an active clinical presence within the department. Each of our physicians maintain expertise in all aspects of emergency care and routinely treat patients of all ages from newborns to the elderly. In addition to their medical skills, our physicians are recognized throughout the community for their compassion and sympathy. Our physicians have also been featured in such publications as USA Today, Newsweek, Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Readers Digest and Consumer Reports, among others.
The Emergency Department staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center are recognized leaders within their field. Their accomplishments include the following highlights:
- Popularized the concept of family presence at the bedside during critical resuscitation attempts in both children and adults.
- Published the first ED case series on the use of Bi-Level Positive Pressure Ventilation in the management of acute congestive heart failure.
- Pioneered the use of waveform capnography for the care of intubated patients in the Emergency Department setting.
- Established standards on medication use in the sedation and management of pain in acutely ill or injured children and adults.
- Developed the ED procedures for the management of acutely decompensated kidney failure patients.
- Published models on optimal pre-hospital destinations for acutely ill children.
- Co-authorship of the nation's first Emergency Medical Services for Children Law
- Chairmanship of the American College of Emergency Physicians State G overnment Affairs Committee
- Three past presidents of the NJ American College of Emergency Physicians
- Service on over 20 national, state and regional committees and task forces.
- Editorial board appointments or reviewer status for over a dozen peer review medical journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association, Annals of Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Emergency Care and the British Emergency Medicine Journal.
- Academic appointments in two regional medical schools.
