Who was St. Francis?
St. Francis, founder of the Franciscan Order, born at Assisi in Umbria, in 1181 or 1182, is one saint whom persons of all faith traditions have united in honoring. His appeal is timeless: Francis captured the imagination of his contemporaries as well as those of us living today by his unique simplicity and a pure grace of spirit. St. Francis' love of the poor, compassion for the sick and respect for nature serve as an inspiration to all, especially those affiliated with Lourdes Health System. In action he was original, in speech picturesque and poetic, yet he was a man utterly inspired by his complete and abiding faith. How will my gift help?
Lourdes Health System, founded in 1950 by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, is a charitable institution committed to maintaining its national reputation as manager of first-rate medical centers and a provider of top quality health care. We have a commitment to provide care to those who would not, without Lourdes, have the ability to receive basic health services. It is because of our Franciscan heritage that we strive to provide the finest care and also to maintain humble service to all in need.Who will benefit?
We maintain a free medical practice for the homeless and the poor in Central Camden. We sponsor early intervention programs which identify children who need special help. We also oversee foster grandparent and other senior programs. We support programs to assist at-risk teens. We are thoroughly committed to our Franciscan principles and with your generous contribution we will help those most in need.Levels of Giving
